All ONP sites that distribute naloxone will now be required to enter data for naloxone distribution and training **Required Questions** in the 'Naloxone' module only. This is the only data that will be used to populate the ONP Quarterly Reporting Form. The 'Naloxone' module will be enabled for all users who previously recorded naloxone data in the NEP module or bulk entry module. All site admins and site users are required to record naloxone distribution and training data using the 'Naloxone' module only. At this time, naloxone questions that are not required for the quarterly reporting will remain on the NEP, bulk entry, and 'Naloxone' modules but are not required to complete for reporting to the Ontario Naloxone Program.

The following user guide outlines how to record the distribution of naloxone (nasal & injectable) and training using the revised 'Naloxone' module.

How to Record Naloxone Distribution and Training using the Naloxone Module

The 'Naloxone' module is completely anonymous and is not associated with any client reference codes or demographic information.

Required Questions for Naloxone

The following data will be required for the ONP quarterly report and these questions will be displayed on the 'Naloxone' module for all sites EXCEPT Fire, Police and St John Ambulance organizations, which have their own question (refer to section 6).

i) Injectable Naloxone Distributed

  • Number of injectable kits distributed
  • Number of SINGLE injectable doses distributed (1 box is 10 doses)

ii) Nasal Spray Naloxone Distributed

  • Number of nasal spray naloxone kits distributed
  • Number of SINGLE nasal spray doses distributed (1 box is 2 doses)

iii) Individuals Trained

Number of individuals trained to administer naloxone

All 'Naloxone' module data entry screens will display the *REQUIRED QUESTIONS* section first. This is mandated by the Ontario Naloxone Program and cannot be moved.
In the screenshot below, 'Injectable Naloxone Distributed', 'Nasal Spray Naloxone Distributed', and 'Individuals Trained' are all question headers within the *REQUIRED QUESTIONS* section. All questions will be collapsed and selecting them will expand to show the data entry fields.

1. Click on the question header to expand each data entry field below. Users will be able to record the quantity for each question as single or bulk entries (e.g., 40 nasal spray naloxone kits distributed, 35 individuals trained).

2. Fields with a green question mark symbol will provide more details about a question when a user hovers their mouse over the symbol.

Questions that are not required for the ONP quarterly report will be displayed in the *NOT REQUIRED QUESTIONS* section, which will show below the *REQUIRED QUESTIONS* section. The questions in this section are not mandatory to complete for the ONP report.

Not Required Questions Section

Naloxone data entered in the NEP module will not be rolled up into the ONP Quarterly Report. These naloxone questions are no longer required. Users should not enter naloxone data in the NEP module or bulk entry modules.

Questions in the Not Required section in the 'Naloxone' module will reflect pre-standardized questions, which may vary across sites.

Fire, Police, St. John Ambulance
Fire, Police and St. John Ambulance organizations will have their own data entry screen in the 'Naloxone' module, with only the following question:

i) Number of Overdoses where First Responders Administered Naloxone

  • Number of overdoses where First Responders administered naloxone
