Please keep in mind the difference between new and open admissions:
New Admission: Admission that was opened during the reporting period
Carryover Admission: Admission opened prior to the reporting period and has not been discharged
Open Admission: New Admissions + Carryover Admissions
- Represents any admission that was open at any time during the reporting period
Does not represent unique individuals - if a person is admitted twice during the reporting period this will be recorded as two admission
Example: New Admission
In this example, there are two (2) new admissions during the reporting period of October 1 - 31, 2020.
Example: Open Admission
In this example, there are three (3) open admissions - comprised of one (1) carryover admission and two (2) new admissions and during the reporting period of October 1 - 31, 2020.
