Nasal vs. injectable naloxone
The calculations below are the exact same for both intranasal and injectable naloxone. Intranasal is used as the primary example.
Data entry methods
There are two methods for entering data into NEO for the Ontario Naloxone Program. The following article will describe how the ONP Qarterly Report is calculated for both methods. Even if your agency/region uses both methods (for example, your core site uses single entry but you have satellites who enter in batch) all data is rolled up into the same Quarterly Report.
Single transaction entry
How to Record Naloxone Distribution and Training using the Naloxone Module
In the 'Naloxone' module under the (**Required Questions**) section, this is the only data that will be used to populate the Ontario Naloxone Program Quarterly Reporting Form. Users will be able to capture naloxone data that pertains to 'Injectable Naloxone Distributed', 'Nasal Spray Naloxone Distributed' and 'Individuals Trained'.
Please refer to the Naloxone Module User Guide for instructions on how to enter data into the Naloxone Module.
Data entry
The 'Naloxone' module is completely anonymous and is not associated with any client reference codes or demographic informationEvery time a client encounter occurs where naloxone is distributed, the service provider enters a single transaction in NEO.

Every time a client reports having used naloxone during an overdose, this is also recorded directly in the Naloxone Used module (whatever details of the incident that are known).

i) Number of Overdoses where First Responders Administered Naloxone
|
Not Required Section
Note |
---|
Naloxone data entered in the NEP module will not be rolled up into the ONP Quarterly Report. Users should not enter naloxone data in the NEP module or bulk entry modules. Questions in the Not Required section in the 'Naloxone' module will reflect pre-standardized questions, which may vary across sites. |

Each Transaction Site you see in NEO is assigned one of the categories on the left in the back-end of the database. Any data entered for a particular Transaction Site is then sorted into the report accordingly. |
