The purpose of this article is to define how the Ontario Naloxone Program Quarterly report is calculated using your NEO data. To run the report, double click the line item when logged into the analytics portal:

Nasal vs. injectable naloxone

The calculations below are the exact same for both intranasal and injectable naloxone. Intranasal is used as the primary example.

Data entry methods

There are two methods for entering data into NEO for the Ontario Naloxone Program. The following article will describe how the ONP Qarterly Report is calculated for both methods. Your agency is able to use/switch between both methods and data is still rolled up into the same report.

Single transaction entry

Every time a client encounter occurs where naloxone is distributed, the service provider enters a single transaction in NEO.

Every time a client reports having used naloxone during an overdose, this is also recorded directly in the Naloxone Used module (whatever details of the incident that are known).

Batch entry

Service providers keep track of how much naloxone they distribute, etc. throughout a given time period, and then enter the totals of that activity into NEO all at once. Totals can be entered periodically (e.g. monthly), or at least once a quarter.

Naloxone kits, training refills and overdose reports/naloxone used are recorded in the same form.

Community partner categories

Data in the report is broken down by the following categories.

Report categoryTransaction Sites
ONP Site

Each Transaction Site you see in NEO is assigned one of the categories on the left in the back-end of the database.

Any data entered for a particular Transaction Site is then sorted into the report accordingly.

Community Health Centre
Aboriginal Health Access Centre
AIDS Service Organization
Outreach Program
Withdrawal Management Program
Consumption and Treatment Service
Shelter
Overdose Prevention Site
Police Service
Fire Service
St. John's Ambulance
Emergency Department
