Determining Support Needs to Complete Sociodemographic Questions
It is advisable to not administer tools if a young person is:
- In crisis
- Experiencing a psychotic episode
- Expressing thoughts of self-harm or suicide
- Intoxicated
If the youth wishes to complete the questionnaires despite challenges, consider:
- Orally administering the tools
- Interpreting the results with caution
- Re-administering at a subsequent visit
Support Considerations for Youth to Complete the Questions
- Accommodating young people with disabilities
- Low levels of literacy
- English/French as a second language
Support options:
- Oral administration
- Adjust setting / format of questions
- Staff or peer support
- Use of an interpreter / translation
- Having a youth worker and/or friend with them if that makes the young person more comfortable
